Mint Hill, NC

Public Works

The Public Works Department is responsible for keeping the Town's infrastructure (such as roads, drainage pipes, buildings, parks, etc.) in working and aesthetic order. The Department is comprised of staff who each bring a diverse background of construction experience of all sizes and types. While the Department has many routine tasks that may be listed in summary, the full breadth of the Department's responsibilities is impossible to list. Public Works is often referred to as "the backbone of the Town" as it keeps roads open and safe, storm pipes flowing, and parks clean and safe.

PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintenance of Town right-of-way (ROW) including asphalt, gravel, sidewalks, vegetation, and signage
  • Maintenance of the Town's stormwater (drainage) system  including ditches, pipes, culverts, and inlets
  • Building maintenance (Town Hall, Mint Hill PD headquarters)
  • Maintenance of Town parks (Wilgrove Park and Veterans Memorial Park)
  • Vehicle and equipment fleet maintenance

The staff of the Public Works Department takes great pride in providing the residents of Mint Hill with the most "bang for their tax buck." Years of resourceful stewardship of public funds has forged a Department that maintains a level of service that is hard to beat in North Carolina.
