Operation Medicine Drop

Operation Medicine Drop

Operation Medicine Drop is a collaborative effort of law enforcement, health and safety, substance abuse prevention, environmental and other organizations to reduce the number of accidental poisonings, curb drug abuse and protect our waters from pharmaceutical contamination.

Safe Kids North Carolina and its partners host Operation Medical Drop "take-back events" all across N.C. each year. You can drop off any unused or expired prescription, over-the-counter and veterinary medications, with no questions asked.

Since 2010, more than 20 million doses of medication were safely collected and destroyed through Operation Medicine Drop events in North Carolina.

Help us continue keeping medications out of the wrong hands and out of our water supply. Find a take-back location near you by going to ncsafekids.org

To Safely Dispose:

1. All medication must be in a bag and concealed within the bottle (no empty pill bottles)

2. Bring your bag to MHPD between the hours of 7:30 a.m - 5:30 p.m and dispose

3. Do NOT bring any syringes, for information on how to dispose of syringes visit safeneedledisposal.org
