09.03.2020 Message from Mayor Brad Simmons
Mint Hill Residents,
It is hard to believe it is already September. I am proud to have served as your mayor for the past 8 months.
There have been several calls to Town Hall on the status of our Land Use Plan. State law requires that as a condition of adopting and applying zoning regulations a local government shall adopt and reasonably maintain a comprehensive plan that sets forth goals, policies, and programs intended to guide the present and future physical, social, and economic development of the jurisdiction. A comprehensive plan is intended to guide coordinated, efficient, and orderly development within the planning and development regulation jurisdiction based on an analysis of present and future needs. Planning analysis may address inventories of existing conditions and assess future trends regarding demographics, economic, environmental, and cultural factors. The planning process shall include opportunities for citizen engagement in plan preparation and adoption.
We are currently in the process of interviewing potential consultants. We have narrowed it to two finalists. The Board plans on deciding at our October 8th meeting. Once a consultant is selected, one or two citizen committees will be appointed, and meetings will begin
Starting on Friday at 5:00 pm, our state will move to Phase 2.5 which means the playgrounds at the parks will be open at that time. We will continue to clean on a regular basis, but remind you to wear your masks, social distant yourself from others and wash your hands. We know everyone is excited to get back, but we must do it safely.
We have until September 30 to be counted in the 2020 Census. Please help the Town of Mint Hill achieve a complete count by taking the census and encouraging your friends, family, and colleagues as well. If you have questions, visit my2020census.gov call the Census Bureau at (884) 330-2020.
Stay healthy and be counted.
Mint Hill Mayor
