NCDOT Projects
These are known NCDOT projects within, near, or otherwise affecting Mint Hill. This list may not be comprehensive, nor include the most recent information. Details will be updated as the Town receives info from NCDOT. These projects are administered by NCDOT, not the Town of Mint Hill.

Nearly all of NCDOT's projects statewide were impacted due to the MAP Act repeal as well as COVID-19. This includes the two projects planned for the Mint Hill area as well as NCDOT maintenance operations (pothole repair, grass mowing, etc.). Project schedules and budgets are unknown at this time. All projects should be considered delayed to some degree. When projects resume, information will be updated as it becomes available.
U-5007 NC51 (Matthews-Mint Hill Road) Widening
This is a State Transportation Improvement Project (STIP) which will widen NC51 (Matthews-Mint Hill Road) to four lanes from Lawyers Road to Phillips Road.

U-4913 Idlewild Road Widening (I-485 To Stevens Mills Road)This project will widen Idlewild Road from Stallings Road, across I-485, to Stevens Mill Road, including modifications to the I-485 overpass and adjacent intersections.
