The Town of Mint Hill is taking a proactive role in the future development of the Lawyers Road area at the intersection of Interstate 485. Starting in August of 2009, Town Staff and HNTB of Charlotte will begin working on the Lawyers Road - 485 Small Area Plan (SAP) project. The SAP will focus on a half-mile circle around the proposed Bridges at Mint Hill mall site. The SAP addresses land use, market conditions, utility needs and transportation needs for the Bridges at Mint Hill project and future development in the immediate area. The SAP process will include numerous public meetings and also offer a three day public workshop called a charrette to seek input and garner support from citizens and business owners.
The Town has hired HNTB of Charlotte to assist the Town with the creation of the Lawyers Road - 485 Small Area Plan. The planning process will be based on the Scenario Planning concept that creates a few different concepts based on public input and narrows down the best scenario through public involvement with the landowners, developers, elected officials and town staff.
